Kérastase Curl Manifesto Bain Hydratation Douceur is a gentle 250ml hydrating shampoo for curly, very curly and coily hair. Kérastase says it cleanses build-up while helping keep moisture, strengthen curls and improve softness. Kérastase calls it sulfate-free, though it also lists sulfosuccinate and sulfoacetate cleansers and silicones.

How it works

Sodium cocoyl isethionate leads the cleansing blend, with cocamidopropyl betaine and decyl glucoside. Amodimethicone and divinyldimethicone/dimethicone copolymer condition and smooth. Manuka honey extract and a ceramide (2-oleamido-1,3-octadecanediol) are the signature ingredients.

Who it suits

Curls and coils that dry out, frizz in Cyprus humidity or feel stripped by sea salt, chlorine and hard water.

What it will not do

• It is not silicone-free. It contains amodimethicone and a dimethicone copolymer.
• It does not define curls on its own. Add a conditioner and a curl styler.
• It contains fragrance allergens (linalool, benzyl salicylate, benzyl alcohol).

Good to know

Kérastase directs a quarter-sized amount on wet hair, with the first wash focused on the scalp. Rinse, then use a second quarter-sized amount to cleanse the lengths.

Step 1
Wet hair and remove excess water, then apply a quarter-sized amount of shampoo.

Step 2
Focus this first wash on the scalp, massaging with your fingertips, then add water and emulsify.

Step 3
Rinse thoroughly.

Step 4
Apply a second quarter-sized amount and add water. The richer foam helps cleanse the lengths to the ends.

Step 5
Rinse thoroughly.
